Hear, Golden Titan whose eternal eye
With broad survey illumines all the sky.
As the King of the Planets, the Sun's powers in magical working are many and miraculous. The Sun is a benevolent ruler and is a great partner for the novice mage. Firm and unyielding, yet magnanimous and understanding. His abilities mainly focus on three core concepts and our creativity in applying them are the main limiting factor; light, vitality, and authority.
The Sun provides light for the world which gives us the ability to see. Theurgists can utilize the powers of the Sun's light in order to gain understanding and clarity on situations. The Sun is omniscient and sees all, even piercing the darkest depths and shining light on these areas can assist in pulling ourselves and others from the embrace of the dark. These same light powers can be used to shine spotlights or otherwise draw the attentions of onlookers towards specific things. This can boost the popularity of our own achievements, bringing them more into the awareness of people we want to see them, or can be crafted to serve as a distraction; not unlike the stage magician drawing the audience's attention in one direction while something more significant occurs, unnoticed, right underneath their noses.
Vitality and life are key solar concepts. It did not go unnoticed by ancient man that the Sun was necessary for life on earth and that life in general synced and mirrored the Sun's rising and setting. The Sun sets the course of the other planets in their synodic cycles like blood through the veins or qi through the meridians and Sun magic can be used physically to restore the proper flow of life-giving energy in the body. He can be used to calm and to heal either by working with the body to encourage convalescence or simply by bestowing sight onto medical professionals to achieve accurate diagnoses when previous results were inconclusive.
Finally, the Sun is the King of the Stars and his will over the other heavenly bodies is supreme. This provides unique supervisory powers over the other planets and the Sun is often prayed to to help mitigate or alter the effects and manifestations of transits or planetary activations. Should the suspect planet prove uncooperative in propitiations, the Sun can be approached as an alternative. These powers are granted to the Sun due to the control over the other planets that he exhibits with his light and in the synodic cycles of the other planets. These same powers also manifest in the Sun's ability to purify and cleanse making the Sun a strong ally in countering curses or negative energy.
